Default 2008 IS250 rear differential seals

I have a 2008 IS250 AWD it seams to be slowly leaking around the back of the rear differential, I am planning on dropping it to re do the seal to stop the leak and then do a fluid change. Is the dif seal a gasket or is it just a bead of silicone? If it is bead of silicone what brand/type should I be using? If it’s a gasket where can I get one? Also any tips on dropping the dif would be appreciated

it’s a gasket I think. Figs engineering I think sells one. Shopfigs dot com I believe. You could reach out to them I’m sure they will give you tips or instructions on how to drop the differential.

Its Toyota FIPG. You want the 1281 material. It's orange instead of grey but the same stuff.
You sure its not an axle seal or the vent?

Tips:
1) Make a little cradle for your jack.
2) Buy a Harbour Frieght puller and some 1/2" Allthread, nuts and washers. Toss the assembly on the axle and use two prybars to pop the a le free.
3) This may only be 350 diff, but there are left and right oil seals or a third option is a non-directional seal which I would not advise if the others are available.
There is a link in my signature head to July 2023 for installation and removal. Oh and you might need something special for a seal driver if that is needed.

See my build thread for more details on diff pulling and assembly.
