Default 2JZGTE - Engine dies after MAF is hooked up

For a while now Ive been driving around with my GS on "limp mode". My motor was missing the MAF sensor. I was told that I needed the correct MAF sensor to get it out of limp mode and begin boosting higher. I bought and hooked up an Aristo MAF sensor since my GTE originally came out of an Aristo. The MAF part number is 22204-46010. When I try to start the car with the sensor on it immediately dies. The only way it will stay on is if I hold the gas pedal. I took it down the street to see how far the RPMs get up. The car feels a lot more powerful and is able to rev up the way it is supposed to. But now my problem is trying to keep the motor idling on its own.

Did you buy the MAF used because it sounds like its faulty? Have you also try reset the ecu before installing the new maf?

I'm sure the MAF is legit. It runs solid when the car is in motion. I'm just having trouble holding an idle. How would I go about resetting the ECU? Just disconnect the battery for 15mins?

Yes try resetting your ecu as you described above. Have you figured out the issue yet?

I'll give that a shot when I get home.

The MAF connector was also reppined. The order I was given is as follows:
Pin 1 white red
Pin 2 white black
Pin 3 brown
Pin 4 black red
Pin 5 red blue

Can someone confirm that this correct? Thank you!

I reset the ECU. I left the battery disconnected for most of the day. When I hooked everything back up I started the car first try. At first it idled pretty good then after a few seconds it had dropped to the point where it wanted to shut off. I then noticed a nipple on the intake manifold plenum that was sucking up quite a bit of air. I plugged it up and kept the revvs up until the car warmed up. It idled clean after that. I took it down the street for a test run and it ran like a beast!

However, the motor still shuts off after I release the gas after a hard pull. What do you guys think it could be?

Have you had a chance to check all of the vacuum lines for cracks? ECU?

to see if the ecu is good. My ecu that I got with my swap had signs of water damage, believe it or not. The seller gave me a replacement ecu after contacting him.

I bought my motorset from ZEROLIFT. They wouldnt even give me the original MAF sensor. I highly doubt anything is wrong with the ECU. I daily drive the car every day on a daily basis and it runs just fine without the MAF sensor connected. But the motor was built for boost and high HP. Im thinking the car just needs to run on a piggy back ECU with a really good tune on a fuel system upgrade. Besides the 67mm single turbo upgrade, everything else is stock.

Did you figure out the issue? Mine's having the same problem, single turbo aswell. It will idle without the MAF just doesn't rev past 3k. Do the MAF pins have to be moved? I left mine how it came.
