Default IYO stock efficiency

Ive had a HKS hi flo filter on my 2002 gs300 for the last year or so and it has definatley provided a little extra response, however im about to install my custom catback and was just wondering is it worth spending the $250 on an intake for a teeny bit better response to couple with the exhaust or should i stay stock?
I feel the stock intake set-up is very efficient looking in manner, along with the exhaust set-up as well, im just looking for a little better throttle response all around, the car has good mid range power
