Been deciding whether to install a short ram, or a cold air intake. I know that the short ram is much more safe in wet conditions, and the cold air isn't so much. Another thing is temperature. The short ram can get extreme in temperature, same for the cold air, but not as much

I had a K&N typhoon series and it seemed quite nice. Came with a heat shield to prevent high engine temps. You wont notice much of a difference with just an intake so it doesnt really matter. imo.

the best intake options for the IS was the LMS cold air...

in testing it matched or even bettered the SRT ( at certain rpm) years ago and was MUCH less expensive.
if you can find a used one it is way worth it and it can also be used in any SC or Turbo kit upgrade also....
the only intake that can be readily and easily used that way as far as i know and wont look like a hack job

IMO ANY time you can get the intake AWAY from engine heat that is a good thing for performance and engine longevity in general....

While looking around on the web it seems like most of the intakes from the big names are all ram intakes ie AEM and K&N.
My question is how hard is it to make your own intake? I understand you've got to get a pipe, bend it to make sure it fits properly, but once the pipe is bent to make it fit what else is there to do? I see some intakes that are almost staight as an arrow and then I see some others that look like a roller coaster. Besides bending the pipe to make it fit are there any other speical bends that I've got to do?
I'm sorry if this is a noob question but I'm trying to find out all that I can on my car while I'm deployed so I can start buying parts and have them ready for me when I get home.

I've posted about this recently because I just got my IS almost a month ago. Based on the feedback that I have gotten from it, the SRT intake with the race ecu was the one everyone suggested. It is definitely pricey but from doing some research on this particular intake system, you will see gains of +22hp and +22 lbs tq. Again, you will only see gains of this magnitude because of the race ecu that it comes with. It is priced right at $600 but I hear it is well worth it.

If you have a is300 you must get a SRI cuz there is no such thing as CAI for is300s or just stay stock

If you dont know something dont give bogus answers ....Your 100% wrong there is a CAI for is300 was made by LMS as stated by edgy why do i also know because way before you owned your IS300 i had one...Any anyone can make their own if they do wish to do (buy 2.75 in pipe)

Basically if you aren't going to do a cold air intake, you are wasting money on a short ram and potentially making less power...

They are discontinued , rare but if you find one they are like 100-150.00 same pipe as on old lms SC kits ,
