Default Aftermarket exhaust system on IS250..how to keep CEL from coming on?

So my wife wants me to install an exhaust system on her 2006 Lexus IS250. I am familiar with a lot of aftermarket systems (just not on the IS250). I know a lot of system get rid of the catalytic converters a lot of times or replace them with high flow converters and test pipes. But this car I know needs the cats to make sure the O2 sensors read right. How would we go about making sure her check engine light and VSC light do not come on from installing an exhaust system?

Thanks
Eric

Most people on this forum install mid pipe exhausts which wont cause any O2 sensors from going off or anything like that.

Hey man , i myself own an 06 AWD lexus is250 and if u own and AWD then you wont be able to find any mid-pipes , only cat-backs .... In my case i baught and installed tanabe catback exbaust. I also eliminated the resonator and the 2 cats before the o2 sensor ( if u didnt know the car has 4 cats ). As long as you dont eliminate the cats in front of the o2 sensor then your CEL wont come on your fine. ( fyi im not sure if the car will pass inspection but hoepfully u have a hookup)

Most exhausts for our cars are axle backs, which wont cause any issues.

If you want, you can also install midpipes, which just remove the secondary cats (I think Invidia).

I have an exhaust and midpipe combo and never had any issue

I think you mean axle backs. A catback exhaust is a complete exhaust: mufflers, y pipe, midpipe, etc

What Im trying to say is that the tanabe exhaust you bought is NOT a cat back, its an axle back.

Axle back: mufflers + y pipe

Cat back: above + replaces midpipe

For example, the JoeZ exhaust is a catback

Well the axleback exhausts will fit the AWD, but nobody makes midpipes

im reading where the mid pipe can be modded for it but of course itll cost money at an exhaust shop to do it. but as far as i see they do not make a mid pipe for AWD for some stupid reason. ok well thank you for your help and ill just have to try and get a refund then.
