Talking Intake, Exhaust?

Hey Guys,

I'm a proud new owner of an IS350 and I wanted some input on what kind of exhaust and intake to get for gain + sound for the best price.

Right now im considering the Tanabe Exhaust and JoeZ intake.

Well for proven gains you could get the JoeZ exhaust along with the intake
Standard axle-back exhausts aren't really gonna give you gains, if any

I love the look and sound of my f-sport exhaust. I have the Joe-Z Intake and I opened up the air cleaner for better growl on acceleration.

I doubt any of this makes my car faster than stock (10 - 20 HP gain is possible, but unproven) and my gas mileage is worse as the throaty exhaust keeps my foot on the gas.

Briman...congrats on the new car and welcome to CL. Use the search feature and you'll find a bunch of threads on the topic. He's right above, it won't give you amazing HP gains but a few. I think the choices you provided are excellent products and will give you about what most setups will give you at the better price.

All exhausts should produce the same gains, ~5-7 hp. It all comes down to preference because some exhausts are louder than others.

Not all intakes produce the same gain though. The JoeZ and Fsport will give you 5hp but are more quiet than other intakes. Others like K&N, takenda, injen, etc, may gain or lose power (+- ~5hp). Nothing big enough to notice, but they are louder

Quick point of order... all the axle back exhausts produce about the same 5-7 hp gain.

And if the OP wants to remain legal, those are his only options.

But if he doesn't care about legal than a full exhaust like the Joe Z will add more in the 8-10 hp range.

For intake, again, if he wants to be 100% legal the F-sport is his only legal option... the Joe Z does the same thing for half the price though, and you can buy the "this is legit" Lexus sticker for like $2 and the inspector probably won't know it's not FOR the Joe Z.

Not that I advocate doing anything illegal of course.

I recently purchased the f-sport intake from Sewell for about $300 with the CL discount. The throaty growl from 3k - 5k is awesome, I highly recommend it. As stated above, since the 5 hp increase is negligible, its really just for the sound.

If you want legal go with F-sport on both the exhaust and intake.
Tanabe is a good exhaust price wise but for sound it is too close to stock.

F-Sport intake and exhaust is a good combo and legal in California, but a pricey.

The ONLY CARB approved intake intake is the F Sport....exhaust isn't an issue on legal. HKS Hi Power is the loudest if thats what you are looking for.

f sport intake is def quieter, if you want loud, from my research, K&N typhoon is loudest with mean growl, and im glad i went with that personally myself, it sounds amazing

for exhaust i recently heard greddy evo 3, for the $ i think this is the best exhaust for sound, not sure about performance gain on this one.
