what you guys think of cutting a hole in the f-sport muffler and weld in another tip in the hole to make it look like a quad exhaust? would it even work?

It's kind of opinionated. One aspect youre "ruining" a F-SPort exhaust by cutting it and welding new tips. Resell would drop, because someone would need your taste in exhaust tips.
Other hand, youre customizing your setup to look like you want it to. If you already like the sound, this is best way to have the tips look how you want them. It is possible, yes.
I'm somewhat debating chopping the tips off my JoeZ to put a more aggressive tip on. But I'm more concerned with having to live with it if i dont like the result.

^^^ what heyarms said. You have to really love the look before you do it. I know a lot of guys who would steer clear of an aftermarket exhaust with an extra tip welded on unless it was a clean install.
Selling it after the modification may be an issue. If you decide that you don't and you want to sell the exhaust, the price will have to drop since you'll have a hole or a patch in it. Otherwise you keep the quad look and hopefully someone loves that look too and will buy it.

One day, these exhausts will pull a premium when they are no longer manufactured. Case in point is my TRD strut tower bars for my mkii mr2. The rear bar alone can sell for $450-$500 right now, while I paid half that (why I have 2 sets). This goes the same for my Greddy SP exhaust. Parts like these are almost like an investment as long as you keep them in great shape.
My advice to you is to keep it for a few years and drop $250 for a custom exhaust shop setup.
