The tranny setup I picked up used locally for $1000 which included W58, brand new ACT clutch, and MKIV NA flywheel.
If you are trying to budget for a turbo kit and want 400whp, I would say be prepared to spend upwards of $8k if you are starting out with no parts and a stock IS300. If you can live with less power say 300whp or 330whp, you might be able to spend less. There are alot of variables and choices that go into choosing all your parts based on your power goals. These choices significantly affect the pricetag.

Over the past few months I've picked up more fun stuff to be installed when the weather gets better, here's a couple of them... I still need to get pics of the rest lol
TRD Selective LSD - L.S.D.[Selective] | TRD
Toyota 4.3 Final Drive
Fall / Spring Wheels
Again I found a really good deal on these with tires included just before I put the car away.... I don't even know what they are really but the sizes are 17x8 +40mm front and 17x9 +32mm rear. They're not in perfect shape, but they balanced out fine and were plenty large enough to have decent grip in colder temperatures. Mind you I'm not driving the car in winter to avoid salt and snow, but I wanted to be able to drive it safely in sub freezing temps.

Yep. I want to try it out.... now with a higher redline and the longer gears of the W58 it should make for a very responsive snappy car. I've run all the numbers thru some gearspeed calculators and i like the results. Also, the higher ratio rear end will ease some of the strain from the transmission.

gearspeeds
Have a look at the numbers, and you will see to that the 4.3 doesn't look so bad. And if I'm feeling like its too short..... Then its time to rev it higher I also included R154 as it would be the next logical upgrade.

LS430 Retro
Based on what I've seen online and even first hand locally, the Lexus LS430 projectors are very unique, having an unbelievably wide beam pattern. The stock reflector HID system has always been mediocre - so time to improve that!
Those who are into HIDs/projectors/lighting stuff will know about these new Philips X-treme vision bulbs - arguably the brightest bulbs you can get right now. And you can't even get them yet in North America, these were ordered from UK lol.
This is the first time I've ever removed the headlights on my car - what a pain compared to other cars... I started the process outside because it was such a nice day - but then some serious clouds rolled in and dumped a whole bunch of rain :/ Had to relocate into the garage - but water started coming in there too!
Will post up some final shots when its all buttoned up and then some nighttime output pics too.

Completed Retro pics
So I'm very happy with how these look on the car... gives it a much more modern look and now the car has "eyes" lol
Tried to get some night time output shots, but the iPhone isn't cutting it... will have to borrow a better camera for that. However, as it is well known with these projectors the beam is awesomely wide - you don't miss anything on either side of the road!

exist3nce,
I noticed when you swapped in upgraded internals that the block was still in the car; did you drop the trans to remove the upper oil pan. Or care to share how you got the internals in with the block on the chassis?

Yeah we went with the in frame build to avoid pulling the block out... its certainly not the easiest thing to do its kinda awkward, but it worked. It it possible to pull the head and both oil pans + replace internals without removing the tranny. You just have to lower the subframe down a fair bit and have the block hoisted/chained holding it upwards as far as the slack will allow. The tranny was swapped in the middle of the process after all the internals were already out.
