So I was wondering.

I've got the F Sport exhaust and I love it. PPE Headers on the way too (they are being manufactured right now).

But I really want to go true dual. I've only been able to find the Joe Z exhaust that runs the dual.

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a dual midpipe that would hook onto the F Sport exhaust bypassing the Y tube and going straight to the muffler section. I think that this would be a pretty hot item for all of us F'ers

any thoughts?

the f-sport exhaust, itself goes into a single pipe. You'd have to hack up your f-sport version to make it work.

My F sport exhaust came in 3 pieces. 2 Mufflers and 1 Y pipe. Why not just remove the Y pipe and have the midpipe meet up with the 2 mufflers where they would connect to the Y pipe?

I see. yeah you could do that then. Your'e gonna want some slim straight through resonators though....probably 12-18 inches in length and an x-pipe to scavenge out the exhaust pulses

Save yourself some $$ and just find yourself a good exhaust shop. They'll make up whatever you want. You can pre-purchase the resonators you want and everything too if you don't wanna use their stuff.

A good shop with an in-house mandrel bender and a TIG welder will be what you'll wanna look for.

A true dual exhaust may give you the sound you want, but if not properly done, you can actually lose power. So be careful if you go to an exhaust shop.

can i ask why you would want a true dual? A lot of people add an X-pipe/H-pipe to even out the flow anyway with these. Do you want a true dual for the sake of saying you have one?

On borla's system, looks like you have to do some cutting and their exhaust is sleeved over the oem midpipe

Bear in mind the difference between just an axle-back and a full, complete, illegal, dual all the way, exhaust is about 3 horsepower.

If you're doing it for looks or sound, groovy... but if you're doing it for performance it's pretty terrible bang for the buck versus just doing an axle-back.

This is what I was kinda looking for. If i'm only gonna get 3 HP outta $1000+ then its not worth my time.

Full disclosure- that ~3 hp difference is what has been found repeatedly on stock-manifold cars.

I don't know that anyone has properly tested the gain difference between an axle-back and a full dual exhaust on a car with PPE headers. It's certainly possible the difference becomes larger than 3 (or it might not, I don't think anyone knows for sure)

Though I highly doubt it'd go up enough to justify an extra 1k in cost.

Kurtz makes a lot of valuable points about this subject. I've installed a set of headers on an IS350 w/borla duals and we a dyno absolutely no gains. My scan tool also logged the same amount of air flow across the MAF meter with the stock manifolds and the headers.

Having looked at these engine apart in my hands I think that gains are possible. The abnormal shaped plastic intake manifold will need to be replaced with a better design and perhaps switching the throttle body to a lexus V8 throttle body.
