Default Deleting Resonator

I have a new 2011 IS 250 and granted it's very luxurious ride i would like something a bit " sporty " ? I had an x pipe on my previous ride c300 and was hoping to simply take out the resonator and install an x pipe there as well to get a sportier sound ??

I've read where it seems as if an Invidia Midpipe is to be used but wanted to know if this would be enough or does an actual exhaust system would be needed ?? Thanks In Advance

I had mine taken out a couple of weeks ago. Mine is a 250. It gave it just a little bit more sound which is exactly what I wanted. It is a simple process. It took my shop about 25 minutes to cut it out and put a straight piece of pipe in there. I don't think an x pipe will benefit you. The resonator is just behind where the two pipes come together.

Thank you I guess any reputable muffler shop should be able to take the resonator out and retrofit a pipe in there. Was there anything else needed regarding the sensor codes and whatnot ? I saw on other threads that the O2 sensor may be affected if this was taken out ?

Thank you again.

No codes or anything else to be concerned with. I have put about 1,000 miles on mine since I did it. Any muffler shop can do it. Very easy swap. They charged me $40 for it.

Heres a video clip of my IS250 with the resonator removed and replaced with a straight pipe. I also have the F Sport exhaust and intake so your setup wont be as loud (assuming your exhaust/intake are stock). Please excuse me and my friends retardedness, we never intended to use this video as a reference on the forums lol

With stock exhaust you won't be loud at all. I can't tell a lot of difference in the sound of mine. The only time I really notice it is when I crank it in the garage in the morning. I share my commute with a lady that has a completely stock G35 coupe and my car isn't as loud as hers.

I installed an Invidia Midpipe on my IS350 with the stock exhaust. I was hoping to get an exhaust first but a local was selling the midpipe for $200 used and that was a good deal to me. It makes little to no difference in sound or loudness when bolted on perfectly and tightened. It will make a difference if you have no mufflers or an aftermarket exhaust. I tried running the car without it connected to the axle-back and that was really loud but as soon as I bolt it up to the stock exhaust, almost no sound at all.

Thanks. I guess i really should look into installing an aftermarket exhaust system ?? F Sport would be my first choice since this should still be warrantied. I actually like the sound of the exhaust from the video so thank you much bob for sharing

I have had my resonator removed for some time now.... it gave my car a really loud deep growl with my tanabe exhaust. I've been looking for a stock mid pipe.... since you're in NJ... would you be interested in a trade?
