They are illegal in all 50 states. Removing working stock cats, period, is a violation of federal law.

That doesn't mean you won't get by if you avoid CELs though- the inspector might not do a visual at all, or might not know what he's looking for/at.

Cant use your stock primary cat as it is attach to the header themself. In other words if you cat go so does the header.

^^^^Any thing's possible with enough money, but this is something you really would not want to do. The stock cat is part of the exhaust manifold. See photo attached.

PPE headers and HFC's can use the O2 simulator from PPE to turn the CEL off. That's how mine works. I have PPE headers, JoeZ racing exuast (no cats) and welded in PPE HFC's to the JoeZ mid-pipe (that's how I bought the setup used, thankfully).

If you're referring to a specific CEL, I apologize for not reading too far back. Haha

Look at my post and pic, on the preceding page. I have PPE headers, Hi-Flow Cats and the o2 Conditioner with absolutely no issues.

I have no issues running hfc on headers with stock mid pipe. No o2 conditioner need. So if it done right no CEL.

I'll just add that having headers, no primary CATs but OEM mid-pipe with Tanabe axle back can have no CEL either. I use to have a SIM, but it broke. Was able to use extenders to get the same effect.

Hey

I am new to this forum. Has anyone put the PPE long tubes on to an is250? I have been thinking about doing set on my IS250 because emissions here in az are extremely layed back and easy to pass.nbut I don't know if it's worth spending 8 hours trying to put them on and if they are worth the price.
