Default Exhaust leak, what are my options?

I've got a leak in one of the pipes right behind the cat, before they "Y" at the front resonator. I took a picture when I was under there, I can post it if my explanations not clear.

Looking at Sewell they want around $500 for the part and Napa doesn't seem to offer anything from what I can tell online.

I don't know much about exhaust systems, what are my options to get this fixed? I know a very good and reasonably priced exhaust shop and could talk to him about fabbing something. I've seen discussion of x-pipes that I thought would replace this section but don't know any details, maybe someone could elaborate on where or what to look for if that's an option. I've got Magnaflow mufflers welded to my stock axlebacks right now and wouldn't mind the car being a little louder.

Thanks in advance!

Doing a little more reading now that I'm off the phone and can search better, looks like custom might be the best solution but if there's anything aftermarket that you'd recommend I'm open to suggestions.

Why not go the extra mile and buy a complete cat-back? You could help recoup your losses by selling the axle-back Magnaflow's.

Presumably you have a GS4 and probably the 400 not the 430 since you have a resonator. I just replaced my GS400 y-pipe around February this year. I bought OEM from the dealer. I was not able to find anything aftermarket and a couple of muffler shops were saying custom would be big $$$ if I want to go stainless. At least I hope OEM will last another ten years. It also comes with all the heat sheilds some in the end it's not that bad a deal if you want to keep the car for a while.

My pipe had holes pretty much everywhere where the heat sheilds contacted the pipes. There is some fibreous baffle material which I am guessing hold moisture around the pipe causing it to rust faster.

I could be mistaken but I don't think there are catback systems that replace the y-pipe section.

It is a 400, I think I'm gonna call the guy who welded the Magnaflows on for me, I was very happy with his work and price, see what he can do. I'd kinda like the car a little louder, maybe replacing the y-pipe without the resonator would be the ticket.

The leak is right along the edge of one of the heatshields like you were saying, it's not bad yet but I'm sure it will be soon and I can hear it so it's bugging me. I just can't see spending that kinda money on the OEM part. I've always figured if it's broke upgrade it if possible!

Just thought I'd update this, took it in yesterday and there was one small bad spot on each pipe. Exhaust guy welded them up and deleted the rear resonators. Walked out for $70, no more leak and I love the way it sounds; a little deeper but still not obnoxious and droning.
