Man custom parts must be cheap over there.

I dunno what the deal is over in the USA but I know over here in Oz if an engine swap is in order it has to be at least the same age as the vehicle it's going into. If possible I'd stick to an Aristo V300 front cut, that way it should come with everything you need for the swap... that's what I'm planning to do after the suspension and brakes are sorted and hopefully will be doing everything in my garage.

One thing I haven't really thought until now though is if the GS3 tailshaft and diff are compatible with the V300 auto box. Might be something to look into as well.

That's what I was wondering.

So you can just use the aristo ecu, and not need any tuning right away since your not bumping up the power right yet? But I guess if you get a supra motor like in the ebay link you posted it wouldn't have an aristo ecu anyway.

I think I saw in your other thread that you had planned to get a 98-00, then with a vvti you just have like 3 wire to hook up, rest is pnp.

Does any year VVT-I work or does it have to be from an aristo? I'd much rather have a VVT-I anyways, i didnt know that it would be that easy to wire. Thanks for the help! My power Goal is 400whp, would i need all that tuning software or could i just up the boost and at the VERY least use an AFR tuner?

Quick reply. A few things.

1. You can save some money on the tuning. Go with an AEM FIC. It comes with the harness and only costs like $320 or so on ebay.

2. That IC piping won't work and it's not cheap. Just buy some universal piping for around $100 and have a local shop fab and weld it up for you.

3. You don't really have to upgrade the radiator unless you plan on doing some extensive racing. The stock rad in the car is actually quite capable. Unless you just feel like having a shiny aluminum rad then it's up to you lol.

Don't forget to add in labor costs, unless you are doing it all yourself. It can get quite costly with the custom fabrication and tuning...etc.

Hey jeff! Thanks for the info. I was looking at the AEM FIC and have read that you've used it before so I'll prob go with that. As far as the labor goes I PLAN to do it myself since I have alot of friends who are good on cars and can give a helping hand. The IC piping I will buy a universal kit like you said, and have a local exhaust shop do it. The radiator I threw in there because it looked cool. But most likely I won't buy it and just stick with own and maybe some upgraded fans. I actually wanted to talk with you later today about what you would recommend me doing, Thanks!

Get the VVTi if you are staying with 98-01 GS.
Make sure the ECU that comes with the swap is the older version the one without the immobilizer, i think i have the Part# for it.

I wouldn't mess with the emanage, i will try the FIC couple SC guys with VVTi GTE guys are using it.
Replace these seals before droppingthe motor in..
Cam seals, crank seal, Valve cover gasket, PCV Valve
Don't mess with suprastore you won't like the outcome!!!
You can use the stock GS radiator but you will need the upper radiator hose, or make your own.
Yes you will need some tuning for 400 rwhp, you will need bigger injectors because you are almost gonna max out with the stock 440s but don't quote me on that some people did.
You can buy some Usdm 550 from 150 -$175 shipped, but you also need a resistor pack to run the low impedance injectors which is around 200-250 pedending on the condition.
But you can use any Honda V6 resistor pack.

Thanks for the input guys! Yea i live in San Diego, i'm just looking around for a good price on a 2JZ GTE VVT-i. I'll take a look at Jhot!

Okay so a little summary for what you guys are saying.

Stick with the VVT-i since im going to be buying a 98-00 GS3. Replace cam seals, crank seal, Valve cover gasket, PCV Valve. For 400rwhp i will go with AEM FIC and 550cc injectors. Whats the deal about a fuel pump and return fuel line? Will i need these as well. I really don't know anything about fuel systems, but i am learning quickly!

I'd definenitily do a fuel pump. And its cheap. You might get away without a fuel return but I'm not sure, someone else might chime on that. You can never have enough fuel though.

Everything JeffT said!! Replace the radiator either way!! There's nothing like getting in your fresh swap and having the radiator split and blowing a head gasket while you're 86.3 miles away from home!! Sounds like i know about that huh?

^^ Yeah that would be Sweet! I remember seeing you build thread a while back. Hows the car?

Also does anybody know how much harder it is to wire a 2001 and up? I am looking on copart and have found many potential cars. Some are salvage title though.

Quickgs300 is right. Once the motors in, it's a pain in the ***.

Maitenance

cam seal
Crank seal
Rear main seal
Waterpump
Timing belt
Timing tensioner
Thermostat
Valve cover gasket
VVTI filter.

You also need a throttle cable.

A power steering resivour

And fuel return, and fuel pump.

If you get the vvti, I think they come with no immobilizer already from japan. Then ecu should be the same as a 98-01 which uses the same body harness. But make sure younger the whole ecu box from the importer.

I ran into a issue with my car not revving pass 3k, and CEL when I used the cars original jumpers. The orange, grey looking thingy that is in the ecu box.
