If your car got Red Toyota Long Life Coolant. It lasts up to 100k miles/5 years which ever is first. It's not necessary to flush it. Just drain and refill with Toyo LL Coolant 50/50 and you should be fine. That's up to you,.

my coolant looks so old that its brown orange, i cant tell if its red or pink lol. where are the draincocks on the block on the 99gs3?, id like to do a full flush get everything out of the system. When i flushed my mustang i ran a hose from the faucet to the overflow bottle turned the car on and let the water go and it took about half an hour then it finally came out completely clean block and everything, I connected the waterhose to a faucet inside my house and did this with very very hot water which acts the same as distilled.

for the 2jz theres 2 drain corks not 3 my bad.

1 on the radiator (easy)

1 on the right side of the block... dunno exactly but shouldnt be to hard to find with a flashlight.

Open up the radiator cap and using a hose to connect the drain thing on the block loosen the bolt + loosen the radiator drain..

after your done tighten everything n refill... something like 7-8 liters

I gotta flush the coolant and change the thermostat soon too.

Can someone tell me where I can find the thermostat on the 2JZ?

Usually the radiator has to be removed to do the 90k service. If, that's the case and they used the right fluid, you should be good for a little while. Have you done your trans or rear diff fluid yet?

The Red coolant does not last 100K miles, it is supposed to be replaced at the normal 30K interval. The Pink Coolant (diluted) is the one that lasts 100K, but from what I've read, Toyota recommends using the type of coolant that was supplied originally, i.e. Red for our cars.

Is RED for the '01+ GS? I thought it was pink. I guess I will double check when I have to do mine.

Red (Long Life) was the older coolant type, and around '02 they introduced the Pink (Super Long Life) coolant. The two can be mixed, but according to Toyota, you must use the changing interval based on your CAR, not on your COOLANT. So if you put the Pink coolant into a car that had Red coolant originally, you still have to use the 30K change interval of the Red coolant. Don't ask me why, this is what Toyota recommends.

As I understand it, even if we put pink in our cars we still have to flush at every 30K miles. So just put red in it and flush it every 30K.

Coming back to my question, where's the thermostat located on the 2JZ? Thanks.
