Need To Do a Coolant Flush
Hey guys, im getting my lexus back from the body shop by friday and i want to go ahead and change all the fluids in it. I bought it a few years ago with 83k miles and it has 147k on the clock now and i have not flushed out the coolant or changed the t stat. Any suggestions on what the best route is to flush out the coolant and what coolant to use and what tstat? thankss

my coolant looks so old that its brown orange, i cant tell if its red or pink lol. where are the draincocks on the block on the 99gs3?, id like to do a full flush get everything out of the system. When i flushed my mustang i ran a hose from the faucet to the overflow bottle turned the car on and let the water go and it took about half an hour then it finally came out completely clean block and everything, I connected the waterhose to a faucet inside my house and did this with very very hot water which acts the same as distilled.

for the 2jz theres 2 drain corks not 3 my bad.
1 on the radiator (easy)
1 on the right side of the block... dunno exactly but shouldnt be to hard to find with a flashlight.
Open up the radiator cap and using a hose to connect the drain thing on the block loosen the bolt + loosen the radiator drain..
after your done tighten everything n refill... something like 7-8 liters

The Red coolant does not last 100K miles, it is supposed to be replaced at the normal 30K interval. The Pink Coolant (diluted) is the one that lasts 100K, but from what I've read, Toyota recommends using the type of coolant that was supplied originally, i.e. Red for our cars.

Red (Long Life) was the older coolant type, and around '02 they introduced the Pink (Super Long Life) coolant. The two can be mixed, but according to Toyota, you must use the changing interval based on your CAR, not on your COOLANT. So if you put the Pink coolant into a car that had Red coolant originally, you still have to use the 30K change interval of the Red coolant. Don't ask me why, this is what Toyota recommends.
