GS400 ran fine twice this morning, now cranks but no start
very frustrating.
As per the title, my GS400 started and ran fine twice earlier today and has never shown any sign of having issues.
Now it cranks over as normal, but won't start (yes, there's plenty of gas.)
There is no spark.
I pulled one of the coils and tested with the spark plug in the tube and grounded, no spark.
I've removed and tested the CAS, all good.
checked fuses in drivers kick panel, all good.
checked fuses and relays in panel in front of the battery, all good.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Julian

I gather you mean the one to the left of the steering column? I didn't take any notice of it.
Having said that, prior to the no start situation I did accidentally set off the alarm. I turned it off by unlocking the door. I didn't think that would be affecting starting the car?
Thanks

Probably not but I would double check. When you put the key in the ignition, the security light on the steering column should go out. If the light stays on the engine immobilizer hasn't been disabled.

UH OH!
Car started and drove to work fine this morning, drove it to advance auto at lunch time to pick up new spark plugs....Car won't start again. I've left it at Advance auto in their car park with the battery disconnected.
This doesn't look good.
No reason this time not to start...

When I went back after work, reconnected the battery, it started straight up. I'm keeping a 10mm spanner in the console!
I'll update this post if there are any more occurrences but for the moment everything is ok again.
Fingers crossed.

My '00 GS400 did the same thing tonight. Drove to pick up a pizza, got back in the car, cranked the engine, no start. Tried maybe 6 or 7 more 5 second cranks, a few minutes apart, and she won't start. Cranks fast, but no start. I locked and unlocked the doors with the key fob, flipped the key 180 and inserted it, and nothing. About 15 minutes into it, I put the key in, cranked it, and she fired right up.
Same problem happened when I got her a couple years ago. I'd drive somewhere, get back in the car, and she wouldn't start on the first couple of tries, then vrooom.
Today was the first time it failed to start on cranking since then, and she almost left me stranded, with a hot pizza! The only recent change was washing down the engine at the car wash last weekend (3 days ago)...uh oh! I drove home with the hood open on the latch, blew the engine down with a leaf blower at home, and left a fan blowing on the engine bay all day.
Did you ever solve your crank-no-start issue?
