F-Sport Intake

I installed mine last night and it was a bit of a bear. The OEM air hose was either glued or melted onto the throttle body and it was the dickens to peel it off.
Is the removal of the battery cable a safety step or to reset the ECU? What happens if you don't reset the ECU?

Yes, I just torqued it by touch. BTW, you can get the intake off eBay for less than $250 shipped (GB from Sewell was $275 + shipping) using Microsoft Live Search Cashback. Do a search in the 2IS section to find out how.
