Default BFI Intake GS300 Build (w/pics)

So cleaning out crap at work today I find these two busted speakers with some nice sized bass ports.

Came home and banged this out in 30min. Made a mess of my carpet and got a bit greasy. I'm still in SC mentality...And you know us, we love to cut holes in things.

Sounds a lot better from 3k rpm on up....seems to ramp up the revs a bit too.

I'll have to see what the MPG numbers do the next few weeks.

What makes "no difference"

More air, is a bad thing???

Velocity stacks are usually on the intake of a turbo, or Carb. I cut a hole in the side of my air box and slapped the tube in just to clean it up.

Search BFI in the SC forums...Tons of them in there.

Nice job and looks very clean, one quick question though...with the stock system don't you almost have a sort of BFI already (the stock ram air scoop feeding into the airbox)?

Usually people buy an air intake (for better performance), box it out with some sheetmetal (to keep hot engine bay air out) then add a BFI outlet such as the one you made above (to add incoming air into the closed newly made airbox). This way you have the best of both worlds.

You just answered your own question. It took me 30 min.
It sounds like I have an intake. I get the mid range to red line pull like I have an intake. And once I throw a K&N or TRD element in there. It will still be cheaper than a full intake. Plus when you pop my hood, it looks stock.

Cool...I just read the BFI link. You might be able to yield even better results if you cap off the top of the air box so the BFI outlet isn't exposed to the open hot engine bay air. Nice work.

Yeah you get more air but it's hot engine bay air vs. the cool air from the stock intake. For this to be beneficial, you would want an outside direct air source.
