I installed a K&N cold air intake on my 2001 GS430 and it is extremely loud. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions to make this setup a little quieter without going back factory?

Define extremely loud because any intake that get for the GS will be 'loud'. The K&N is on the quieter side for intakes compared to the SRT.

Put the stock back on. J/K you could build a box for it that surrounds the filter, many have done it on here. You might also get the benifit of keeping more hot air away from it.

I love the sound. Its only loud at WOT on my 02' 430 and it sounds wicked.

i seriously thought they never made a FIPK for a 430

They never did, but I'm sure it works for the car. K&N probably never released it under the GS430 because they would have to obtain CARB certification and that would have cost them a lot more money.

So I guess he just bought the FIPK for the GS400...and it probably fits the same on a GS430? At least the FIPK for the GS400 has a CARB sticker.

he had to modify the MAF sensor if he installed it on a 430. The 430 has a much smaller MAF than the 400.

and if you did install it on a 430 I (as well as other members) want to see pics!

Just checked K&N's site and they still only make the intake kit for the GS400.

Here is a pic. of my cold air box I have made. There is a 3 1/2" hole in the fender behind the headlight coming into the box to allow cooler air in. I am currently building a piece to cover the entire top all the way to the side of the engine compartment .

Did you buy a K&N FIPK for the GS400 and used it for the GS430? I think someone mentioned that the MAF is different for these 2 engines right? Did you have to modify anything or was it straight plug-and-play. BTW, nice air box.
