Default So what do you all think? (Make the is250 more powerful)

I was talking to my friend, who seems to have a lot of knowledge on cars and what not. I told him that my car lacks horses.. which we all know is true. He went home, did a little research, and then shot me some links.

http://www.autoanything.com/performa.../10A50207.aspx

What do you guys have to say about this stuff?

i would check out the Mazzuri super headers thread, megan has a nice race mid pipe out that you can find on ebay, then you can do pretty much anything for the axle back, I personally like the Tanabe for sound and looks.

Thats what i would do! Dont expect crazy numbers out of this car! It will help, sound great!, and look much better

options 1 and 2 are good, but also check out the mazzuri headers as well. As for the 3rd option, no one has managed to crack the encryption for an ecu re-map so u can forge that option (for now)

If you don't mind dropping a couple grand to make the car much louder and not much faster you can put on an intake and exhaust.

The mazzuri headers are the only mod I've seen for the 250 that offer anything approaching decent bang for the buck (around $30 per horsepower if you do your own labor, $40 per otherwise)... everything else is like $100 per horsepower... which is horrible considering the cost difference between the 250 and 350 only works out to about $50 per horsepower.

The bad news is, if your car is in one of the emissions inspection areas in VA you will fail inspection with the mazzuri headers becausse they delete the primary cats.

Yup, that -might- work

You'll need to find an exhaust shop willing to do it. The additional cost may or may not push the bang/buck equation into the realm of worse than trading up to a 350.

Then you'll need to find an inspection station who isn't aware that federal law makes it illegal to change the location of your cats (which this would be doing).

That last part should be -relatively- easy from the places I've seen though, as most seem to just verify the correct number of cats appear to exist.

AFE Intake
Tanabe Exhaust
Mazzuri Headers
Made My car alot more fun.
I hate people that say why didn't you get a 350, Why didn't you get a 350.
Go to hell with your 350
Not everyone can buy the top of the line car off the lot. There are so many reasons why 250 owners buy a 250. Power is not always the primary factor when buying a car. That doesn't mean we don't deserve the right to try and pump out a few more horses with mods.
Anyways this is for another thread.

Enjoy your 250. I love mine.

IMHO...>The money spent to "pump out a few more horses" on the IS250 would have been better spent on a stock IS350. BTW...beyond the intake and exhaust, one who mods runs risk of having the warranty void.

There is another IS250 mod that "pump out a few more horses"...> OAR, four of them that can be manually activated when the the windows are in the down position. Here is the OAR link:

Enjoy your modded IS250!

In the long run the is250 will be a car that people will modify a lot more than the IS350 and it will be much faster for less money.
