Default HKS Super Hybrid Filter Installed today. (Pics for your pleasure)

Have almost 15k on the stock air filter and it looked like it was time to change it out. Also an excuse to take a few photos. A thread is useless without pics right?

HKS Super Hybrid Filter seems to work well according to Gernby so I'm going to try it out.

Top view comparison

Side view comparison. The HKS filter is noticeably thinner. Not a bad thing.

HKS filter is 3 pieces. The filter is washable.

3 layers

Getting ready to drop the new filter in the stock airbox. Yes the secondary carbon filter is out and now removable. I take it out for "off road use" only days.

Thanks JOE.

I actually sold the Blitz filter long time ago right after I dyno tested it. Results were not impressive at the time and the fact that it wasn't reusable was a bad thing to me. When I did the dyno test last year, I still had my secondary carbon filter in the airbox and did several back to back swaps with the Blitz vs a new OEM filter and the OEM filter consistently did 1hp more. As for doing a filter comparison, it's probably not worthwhile. Now an upcoming exhaust shootout would be fun.

I'll look around for ya, but there was one there a few hours ago. I guess combfilter snatched it up.

Yeah and all that hard work and testing led me right back to the well designed stock intake.

There is no noticeable sound difference with the HKS filter installed and the carbon filter removed. Also can't feel any difference in reaction of the car. Modifying the intake probably doesn't yield more than 2-5hp. Once I get my secondary cat project complete I plan to do a dyno session and see how both the intake mods and the exhaust mods affect power.
