Questions about Tanabe exhausts
I am thinking about installing Tanabe Medalion Touring exhausts. Wonder if the interior noise is excessive after switching to Tanabe exhaust. I want the low freq and deep tone sound on the outside but at the mean time I don't want to compromise the nice quiet interior. Also if there's any power benefit from getting the Tanabe exhausts.

I checked out Tanabe.com and checked out the soundclips they have there. Seems to be ok but just wonder if anyone has any real world opinions. I had a 350Z before the IS 350. I couldn't stand the interior noise in the 350z. The Bose system is weak in the 350z plus the noise from the ride together are turn off for me and that's one of the reason why I got rid of it and bought IS.

how's the exhaust noise levels in the 350z compared to a G35 coupe? I have a G35c in the family and thinks the exhaust sounds perfect for the type of car it is.

Yes, the tone of the 350z exhaust is cool but it's just too loud interiorly. I want to enjoy the music but the noise is a killer.

had a 350z as well
i had a 350z before as well, and i think the exhaust went right along with the overall car
i do agree that the interrior was quit loud
one of the reasons i couldnt stand my car after 38k
seemed like a noise would come go then a new noise would appear
i think the interrior of the IS is very quite and by the sound clips that i heard the new exhaust would not have to much of a dampner on that unless u were beating on it trying to make it loud

I have been inside a car with that HAS the LMS exhaust--IT did not sound loud at all. In fact im really surprized at how quiet it was.
I can only imagine that the TANABE exhaust would be much more softer in tone, since it still has the CAT's.
Get, it should be fine.
However, there does seem to be more vibration, I can actually hear it in the video. I think this might be slightly close to the 350z sound you wanted to get away from.
If I were you, I'd probly keep the stock exhaust, or first hear it in person inside the cabin. Cause its close, Real Close to the G35, IMO...
Heres a couple of links.

You guys must be old men or something if you think 350z's are loud. LOL
I've had 2 S200's (try driving that little car from las vegas to CA) 90mph on cruise control 5000+ rpm screaming
Put my old 2005 Audi S4 non-res exhaust with downpipes, with CAI next to a 350z and you wont even hear the 350z.
Personally I ordered the LMS exhaust cause I want the maximum HP out of an exhaust regardless of sound.

I have the Tanabe exhaust. I my opinion inside with the windows up the exhaust is almost non existent. You have to be in the throttle pretty hard to hear it. When the windows are down you get a deep sounding exhaust. I love the way it sounds and the way it looks. I would have gone with the LMS but I didn't want to deal with the smog issues that it may cause here in Cali.
Hope this helps.
Also, Suprafrank- where are you in Cali? If you are ever around the San Fernando Valley let me know and you are more than welcome to come by and check it out.

i agree..ive been looking for an exhaust system for my is300...so at the local meets last week i heard a few to help me make my decision...
one of the nicest ones i saw was the Medalion touring.. sounds really deep and not loud at all..
ive received too many damn fix it tickets in my other car (an STi).. so im not looking to attract any attention in my non-obnoxious car..
