INTAKE installed, now getting code PO171 lean mixture
I installed an intake and now when I'm getting a CEL. I went to autozone and they retrieved the code and it is 171 Lean mixture (bank one). I'm thinking maybe an 02 sensor or an injector but not really sure?????????? Can the new intake make a leaner mixture than stock and throw CEL???????

What intake did you install?? Seems to make sense being that you now have a lot more air flow so you are getting less fuel - thus running lean. Did the intake come with an ECU??

Sure, with a stock setup. However, I noticed with the SRT intake that if you use the air diffuser that blows air onto the intake filter that a CEL would appear on temps lower than 52 deg. The cooler air getting into the motor was causing a lean condition on my car. Only happen early mornings when it was really cold. Once the temps warmed up and after several start cycles, the CEL would go away.
BTW: By removing the air diffuser from the car, solved my problems. Basically, having a ram air effect of cold air flowing right into the filter caused my air/fuel mixture to go way lean which would throw a CEL.

Aristo Short Ram Intake w/o ECU mod., I get a CEL when I really get on it sometimes, then it goes away after a couple of days of normal driving. It was a cheap intake and I've learned my lesson. I will be purchasing the SRT sometime in 06, seems like everyone recommends it anyway.

The inside diamiter of the aristo air sensor is larger than the GS air sensor. I would meadure the ID on the old air sensor and the new intake. If the new intake is bigger I would not use it untill you have an AFC or you could burn something up.

Do you have a picture of what the air diffuser looks like?? I am just curious.
