Default E-Shift

Ok I already did a search for this and wasn't satisfied so I'll ask something I'm sure has been answered many times. Why will E-Shift not go into 1st gear?

If I'm racing is it better to launch using E-Shift or let the tranny do it's own thing.

E-shift won't go below 2nd gear which I think is retarded... it won't even go below 3rd gear if the car is not warmed up. Not to mention it second-guesses your inputs and if it doesn't feel that your gear selection is appropriate for the given throttle input, it will actually downshift for you. I think that there should be something the dealers can change in the car's settings to allow drivers who understand the concept of shifting gears (a'la people who would have bought the GS in manual form if they made such a thing) to have complete controls over the gears. But alas, Lexus doesn't believe that their owners know enough or care enough for them to bother with this.

As far as racing- if you are just flat-out drag racing then just put it in automatic mode. E-shift really only helps if you plan on autocrossing, so you can hold onto a lower gear through a turn to help you slow down and speed right back up at the apex without the transmission deciding to shift into a taller gear and then back to a shorter gear again.
