CARB/Smog hassles? Are SC 300 owners condemned to n/a for living on the left coast?

I love it when I can answer my own question. Found a shop via the Supra Forums here in Bay Area that does TT swaps. They have accomplished several na Supra swaps and are apparently quite good at it. They have not done a SC3 swap, but this would be very similar. They are able to get the CARB/smog cert legal on them. Black Trax, Milpitas, 408/946-2900. I am salivating over this find right in my back yard. Now I'm torn over when to pull my low mileage reliable 2JZGE, but that's a good question to have to mull over!

I have 2jz with turbo.. Did my somg this year then put the turbo on.. wait 2 years, then take turbo off. then smog.. unless find a way to get smog. Like to get carb certificate.. but don't know how to yet.. at the moment.

Well there is one! Thanks moua4c, I understand that approach. How far did you take yours? What kit? Who installed?

I didn't have much money.. so I went with f-max manifold, t04e turbo, tail wastegate, hks ss bov, vpc with 440cc injectors & 550 chip. , TT fuel pump,tt side mount IC, S-afc .. I just dyno and I got 316 wrhp.. at 12lb.. the stock cat was still on.. a little low numbers.. kinda disapointed, but at least it's over 300... Maybe I could of got more if pistion #5,6 was not so bad on compression..

As for install, I did it all my self. took one week.. working on the car after work. till midnight. All IC pipes was home made and I did the welding.(first timer).
