For those with iridium plugs
I was thinking about getting NGK iridium plugs, but was told by a mechanic that it's better to stay stock as they are guaranteed to fit in correctly. Did you have to do anything to get your iridiums to fit or did they go in easily.
Thanks,
Mike

The 97+ SC's come with Denso Iridium plugs stock. I have a 95 and had my mechanic put them in when he did my tune up. I had alot of stuff done so I felt a big difference. Not sure if it was the plugs.

I had denso iridium plugs put in a while ago. No difference in power, no difference in acceleration times. They have a million-mile, lifetime warranty, and I suppose thats the only realistic reason to get them...

I have a 95 SC400 and just did a major tuneup. I put in a K&N Air Filter, upgraded to mobil 1 synthetic, replaced oil filter, and replaced spark plugs with NGK.
My car just hit 77750 and had a service done by Lexus about a year ago, but I recently purchased it off someone who had it sitting in the garage since January. A family friend of one of my best friends happens to be a Toyota Certified Mechanic and owns a Lexus himself. He recommended the NGK's even though I already had them in mind. They fit perfectly.
Altogether the tuneup made my car feel 100% better, smoother acceleration, gears kick in smoothly, its somewhat quieter, and my last full run on one gas tank was up by about 50 miles. I went exactly 436.5 miles before refill. I did drive a little more on the highway than usual but not much.
Anyways, I don't know how much the spark plugs did alone, but they worked fine for me.
