WTF? Another turbo SC300. Does that mean I will be #3 in IL?

Check this out:

Chris

PS. Did you use US-spec or J-spec motor?

Tach wire is the black color wire located on the igniter.

Did you heppen to use a J-spec ECU too? I will be doing the swap soon and I think I will have a problem with the harness. Any chance you can come out to a our meet on the 27th of this month?

It's been moved to some other time. There are two meets coming up. One at Dude's Performance and another at Elmhurst Toyota. Check out the Chicago Lexus Club forum:

There is already one guy who did the swap, aka quickturbo. I will do the swap as soon as I get the JDM Supra TT front clip.

ok, I'm trying to go over my notes and even remember this, damn, it's only been around 7 months

Anyways,
It looks like
Lexus connector IK1-8 will go to the Violet wire (Tach out) on the tach adapter.

The tach signal will be coming from the supra connector pin location II1-29 and that will attach to the White (Tach In) on the tach adapter.

Let me know if you need anymore help on this.

I had the same problem when going to the AEM running wasted spark. This post on the AEM forum explains my solution: http://forum.aempower.com/bbs/viewto...119&highlight=

Basically, I kept the OEM ignition just to generate the tach signal. The tach signal is *very* messy and is based on the field collapse of the coil (I scoped the NA tach signal). Good luck synthesizing the darn thing from another ignition box. You may have success with an aftermarket tach adapter.

finished jdm swap few months ago used 8920 and works fine dont remember which wires connect to what but I left blade connectors on both wires supra harness side (tach out) and lexus connector side (tach in) and planned to try both wiring (current driven or voltage) after car running. The first way I wired it worked. I can check later if you need.

sct,

Details here would be *greatly* appreciated. With the use of so many standalone ecu's, others would really benefit from your experience. In fact, I don't know what a 8920 is. More info, please!

concerning msd 8920 tach adapter hookup:
my best guesses short of pulling the wires to verify cant see all of the wires under dash made the connections months ago with everything out of car.
I wouldn't use e9-58(IGF) this is for "ignition confirmation signal" that igniter sends to ecu "fail safe funtion".
I'd recommend e10-16(TACO) "tach out" actually same wire as II1-29(38pin orange connector supra harness) B-W(black w/white stripe) looks like goes to the 8920 white wire.
red b+
black grd
violet to lexus Ik1-8 (black wire orange 23pin connector lexus harness) "tach in"/trigger wire to lexus tach.
If you want something under the hood looks like igniter also has a tach out black wire on four pin connector that goes to data link connector (DLC1) labeled IG- not sure what this signal looks like you could scope it on a friends supra to check it may or may not be able to drive the lexus tach as is or through the 8920?
hope this helps!
