Another one bites the dust (another day another dollar) ...
Shattered my HorsePowerFreaks (w/ ACT Pressure Plate) today. Running 14psi ..
I was going around a turn, not smacking gears or anything ... just got on it in 3rd and got to about 5,000 RPM and heard a crack and then lots of rattling ... threw it into neutral .. same noise. Pushed in the clutch, goes away ... won't go into any gear ... you all know the routine.
I had 2,100 miles on this clutch with 700 break-in miles. I hope their "warranty" really exists, because it hasn't even been in the car a month yet.
Maybe I will start a kills list:
1) ClutchNet Stage 3 - "handles 650+rwhp" - 4,000 miles (with 1,500 mile break-in included)
2) HorsePowerFreaks Sprung w/ ACT PP - "800+rwhp" - 2,100 miles (with 700 mile break-in included)
more downtime

i don't understand why it would be breaking. The hp those clutches could hold are a lot more than what your car can even make..Are you sure it's not something else that is causing your clutch to break?

Yah ... hurting for cash and still living at parents-in-law's house because of the apartment fire ... finally have pictures of that - http://www.turboforum.net/images/fire
It is a shame too because the car is so solid, never had a single trouble yet and probably wouldn't ever if I could keep a clutch in one piece
Lex Luther ... heheh, yah ... it someone didn't believe me that this car is a daily driver, I would just whip out the gas mileage log book (not updated on the website very often) and they would see there is no denying it.
As for the clutches ... I think it is a matter of ... they just don't hold the power that the manufacturers are claiming. I always read threads on the SupraForums about NA-T clutches not holding up ... I really like the feel of this HPF clutch kit, maybe I just got a defective one ? I think there is something else that is causing them to break - bad luck
Once we get the clutch out (hopefully by the end of the week, I have a 62 hour work week again this week, so I gotta try to fit it in), I will take pictures of the damage.
*edit* actually, I guess I lied. I checked my records out of curiosity, and I had the new clutch in on 07/26/03, so it was about a month and 10 days.
