Default AEM EMS Questions and Opinions

I have a few questions for all the AEM EMS owners...First what all is deleted of the stock system when using a EMS? I know of course the stock ECU, I think the ignitor, what about the ignition noise supressr? What about the solenoid resister? Do I have to use LS1 coils or with the stock one work fine? Also does the EMS come with stock engine maps and values already installed or not??? I guess Im asking when first plugged in will the car crank up and run like stock? For everyone that don't know I am talking about a EMS for a TT supra... What I am thinking is by the time I spend all the money to buy my ignition stuff... Stock ECU, Ignitor, Noise Supressor, etc... FCD, BCC, etc.... I could have covered the big part ofa EMS... Tell me you alls opinions...............

No.

My opinion - A standalone system is only as good as the tuner.

I also meant to say, that with the ems you can save or remove as much or as little as you want. You can just replace the ecu and run your stock maf, distributor, injectors, etc. or you can replace everything, that is part of the beauty of the aem.

I talked to Josh at AEM today and he said that the TT EMS comes with a couple different programs and one of them is the stock ECU style settings.....He said that (now remember I didn't say it he did) the "base map" is just the stock ECU values and that the car will run fine just like the stock ECU.....See I have installed and ran alot of ther EMS setups for Acura/Honda and the settings base map was just enough to get he car runing but not enough to drive on.... So this confuses me...The reason for the question is I read once online that people were driving on the base map of the EMS for the Supra and everything was great.. I didn't understand this so I asked....

Try going onto the AEM Discussion Board .... you will see people whose cars don't even start using the EMS "Plug & Play" base map, and then others whose cars seem nearly perfect... always count on having some downtime ...
