Default 98 gear shift for a 97

Is it feasible to replace the stock shifter in a 97 400 with the shifter from a 98? IF so, where can I get one, and how difficult is it to do? --sw

it is not possible to replace the *****-matic with the gated shifter. A while back someone posted one on ebay, but we never figured out if he actually swapped the shifters or if he was lying about the year of the car. If it is possible it is not worh the money, (it would be about the same as swapping to manual)

that guy on ebay wasn't telling the truth about the car he posted. the shifter conversion is alot of work and $$ involved...remember, with $$ anything is worth it,but is it worth it in the end? you decide....(and why has this post been moved to engine transmission section?-does it really apply here?)this is an interior modification INVOLVING the tranny but not directly. just my 2 cents...
