Anybody have info on Injen intakes???
Hello everyone, I'm a new user and was told this is a great community to get info to improve my Lexus. Well friends here's my first question for you: My car (1992 sc300) is bone stock right now so a friend said the first thing I should do to get a little more power out of it is to get an intake kit. I bought an Injen intake #IS2083 short ram kit but have yet to get it installed. What can I expect from this intake kit and does anyone have any other suggestions on upgrades I can do that won't break my pockets. I got it brans new for $180, is that a good price? Help me, I'm a little lost. Thanks!

i got mine for 180 shipped, that was the cheapsest i found it for. I havent dynoed or anything but you can feel a bit of a difference at teh end of second gear and all thru third gear and above. it makes your car sound a whole lot better too, just the sound was good enough for me, i cant wait for headers/DP/catback....

I'll go with ONE HOT SC on this one. I have the injen on my SC400 and didn't notice any gains. It might be different for the SC300 peeps. The guys who do the BFI say they can really feel the difference. Also costs alot less.
Sure does make the engine look pretty though.

Thanx fellas, I just got the intake today and I'll probably install in this weekend. I have a sc300 by the way so I should get a little more boost than the sc400 peeps. The BFI sounds cheaper and better in terms of HP but it sure does look raggedy when people do it with cardboard and plywood. I wish I had the time to fabricate some pieces from ABS, at least them the top section would look somewhat decent. Let me ask you this, being as this is the first upgrade on my car performance-wise what would you suggest next? Someone mentioned that I should change from platinum to iridium plugs, but then someone else said that I should stick with what was originally designed for the car. Help me out here, can someone give me advice on a few upgrades I can do that won't be super-expensive, keep in mind I'm no mechanic...thanks!

I was curious about the Injen/bBFI debate. With an average SC300 would it be better to do the BFI or to get an Injen? Don't wanna chuck out the ~170 for the intake when I can make one for significantly less.

Well, I put the injen intake on the ol' SC300 this weekend, it looks nice, and sounds nice at high rpm's and I notice a slight difference at the end of second and all thru 3rd and above. Not much of a gain but a gain nonetheless. Now on to the next stage...any suggestions?...

Ok, I found it on the www.xerd.com website, for the SC300 the header is $699. The exhaust I want is by Greddy and that's another $800 at www.adventon.com...man this car stuff is pricey! Not like when I had my old BMX, ha ah ha ha!

Steve Ganz (SupraTRD) sells JIC Catback exhaust for the SC300...I believe it's around 800 shipped also...
If you wanna go cheap and custom, you might as well go with the Magnaflow setup...Do a search...
Stock plugs and ignition are the best! I wouldn't recommend anything else...

i would stick with the stock wires but change the plugs. i've changed to the denso iridiums and the car feels much smoother now. very happy with these spark plugs.
