Default throttle body / pcv question

I am looking to clean my throttle body probably next weekend as I hear they get quite gunked up,b ut I havea question. Do they get dirty because of the pcv gasses pouring into there. I ask because I know some people who remove the pcv hose that goes back into your intake right before the TB. Then they plug the hole in the intake and put a tiny air filter of the pcv outlet. I would think this would keep the crap from coming back in- can anyone tell me about this?

Thanks,
Tim

I tried to go without the PVC line and a "****ie filter" for a while but although the idle changes were slightly negative I decided to go back. Here's a read for ya!

Make sure you take off the TB before cleaning it any excess cleaner can screw up the O2 no matter what the can says...
