Default stock turbo rebuilds

How much should it cost to rebuild the factory GTE Turbos??? I am debating this because if the cost is worth it I am going to have it done before the motor swap takes place... and is this a good idea or bad??? I think (I think) someone posted that rebuilding stock turbos was a bad idea...Thanks Tommy D

Depends upon how much power you're looking at achieving I suspect? I'll be doing a steel-turbine conversion on my stock Soarer turbos (1JZGTE) because I'm not planning on running massive boost, even though they should be able to handle the power Personally, for simple reconditioning I'd get the factory turbos hi-flowed and take out the factory ceramic wheels, replaced with steel wheels. Not that much more lag compared to the factory ceramics, however they can handle higher boost, unlike the factory turbos (optimum boost would be 12psi, or about 0.8bar)
