Default Skyline valvesprings and retainers?

I was talking to one of my supra buddies who has a jap spec twin turbo motor in his na-t converison. He mentioned to me that he has skyline r33 valve springs and retainers in his car. He also mentioned that alot of jap shops use r33 valvesprings in supra motors b.c of the high reving skyline motor and they are more stiffer than the stock supra valvesprings and retainers. Is this true? Can someone shed some light on this? ARE THE PARTS INTERCHANGEABLE?

Err... it's commonly known that the 2JZ is stronger than the Skyline equivalents, why would he be using R33 Skyline valvesprings and retainers? Just curious...
