Default Wastegate Question...

I'm getting a Turbonetics Racegate soon and I have a question about the top and middle fittings. Now my current Tial 46mm wastegate doesn't have a top fitting in place but the middle fitting of the wastegate is attached to the boost controller solenoid (I think its the IN port of the solenoid). Now the I thought the top fitting of the wastegate was supposed to attach to the compressor housing of the turbo. Now when I get the Racegate I don't plan on tapping into the compressor housing but rather into the IC pipe. Now is that the same? Will it give me any problems?

Also how was it that my top fitting wasn't even attached and my car ran just fine?

BTW, I have an HKS EVC EZ Boost Controller
