Another cluster repair question that may be different
Going through the forums I noticed most people are dealing with the needle dying out or their lights dying out.
My issue however is different, I vaguely remember someone having a similar situation to mine but I can't seem to find that post.
My speedometer and odometer have been out for quite a while,
I can't tell my speed unless I'm using my OBDII scanner tool and there is no way for tell me how many miles I have got which is a big problem for me.
A few months back they used to work sometimes, usually when it became too hot which is most of the time in Texas they went out but they ALWAYS went out together.
Seems like whatever is the link between the speedometer and odometer, that thing is broken or burnt. I know my sensors are working because I can get that information from the OBDII scanner.
Has anyone else had this same problem? I read that there a few a speed sensors on the SC Automatic, is it possible that one of the speed sensors is working and still giving me the speed through the OBDII Scanner?
Also some information, car is a 1998 SC400 without Traction Control and is around 186-188k miles. I can't seem to find many repair people for 98+ vehicles and the ones on eBay are for the LS400. All lights, LEDS and needles are working and are lit.

After some more googling and forum searching, something called a VSS goes bad which is a sensor right next to the transmission. What do yall think about that?

I photo'd page BE-110, Volume II from the 1992 Shop Manual. (Your year might be different) The procedure to check the speed sensor. You are probably right about this being bad. The Sensor sends a signal to the Speedo and odo. The part is not very expensive.
