My SP63 basically touches my distributor ... I don't think you can go much bigger ... but I could be wrong ?

Depends on the manifold. I'm pretty sure the Performance Factory piece will clear the dist. with almost any t4 flange turbo. But that would have to be verified. A 4" inlet will be too big with almost any other manifold I think. The Sound Performance piece may be an exception but I believe they have been with 3" inlets. You should double check directly with SP and/or PF if you're serious.

Ehhh, just ditch that distributor , the SP header will then work with a 4" inlet awj, the PF header does look to provide some more room...

I've got a 60-1 using an on center backhousing with a 4" inlet on a toyomoto manifold. It's a tight fit but it works.
70 front and a 81 back housing.

Wayne, is that 427rwhp with the Toyomoto headgasket (I'd assume)? I'd think the 60-1 with .81 on the back would do more like 475rwhp at that boost level. SP runs the 60-1 at 20-23psi with lowered compression. Seems like a very conservative tune on your car. Unfortunately the efficiency starts downhill at around 18psi. Still, it would seem like you've got a good 4psi to go, and more on race gas.

No, thats on a tt h/g. That was just on basic tuning. I was afraid that if we went any higher that I would fry the tranny. I did fry it eventually, about 3 months later.

When we first put the car together I had a .69 backhousing on and then later I went to an .81. Never dynoed it with the .81. Might have gotten more out of it.

Wayne,

Were you consistantly running 15 psi(427rwhp) for 3 months until you fried the auto tranny? Do you have a tranny cooler installed?

Nope. That was pretty dumb on my part. . When I get the car running good again after I sort out some bugs, I'll make sure to take care of that.

Is the .81 noticeably stronger up top?

Yeah. You feel a better pull midrange to top, where as with the .69 you feel a better pull down low to mid. Still pulls good up top but not as good as the .81.
