Default Check Engine Light On When Brakes Applied

Hi Everyone,
I've got a 92 SC400.
I've not seen my scenario anywhere yet. I hope someone can identify with my problem.
When I turn the key to the on position only(no start), my CEL does not come on until I apply pressure to the brake pedal, then the CEL comes on. When I release the brake pedal, the CEL goes off. It does this as many times as I apply the brakes. Any thoughts to what is going on? My trac light is also on.

Have you pulled the code? That's the first thing you should do.

Biddles, Thank you for your reply. I am under the impression that to read a code, the Check Engine Light must come on. Mine does not until I apply the brakes with Ignition Switch turned on only. Maybe it would pull the code(s) with my brake pedal applied since the CEL is then on.

You need to put a jumper in the plug under dash it is something like te1 and another pin

I cant recall exact pins to put jumper but "google" how to pull engine codes on sc300/400 with obd1

Yes, and once it goes off, there is still a record of the code in engine computer, until it's erased.

Get the codes read
