Default Manualy advancing timing: does it work?

I'm wondering if you folks over here might have some imput to a thread I posted in the GS forum. I asked if manually advancing the timing works on the 3.0 I6. Since the GS300 and SC300 share the same engine, maybe you guys might have an answer. It is a common trick with the Mustang 5.0 that would gain between 5-10hp.

If you have any imput, please post in the below thread. Thanks!
