Default any tips on checking your iacv?

my sc300 idles low and rough when I am in drive and I put it in neutral the rpms go up and it runs pretty smooth? so any tips on how to check iacv?

The factory service manual (available online) has diagnostic steps for the stepper motor. You remove it from the metal housing and apply battery power in a specific sequence to test that the valve opens and closes fully.
