When to start controlling Timing?
Hey all,
I am just curious as to when one should start adding timing control to their tune? I have a map ecu3, and have the ability to control timing with it, but havent had the need to since I am only at 15psi on my 1JZ. Next season, I would like to be up around 22-24psi, and was wondering if the stock ecu would still be able to manage timing at those levels?
I know very little about the timing aspect of tuning. Fuel is pretty easy, just use the wideband and dial it in..

So, I have read that if you are using a piggyback and boost cut controller, you will be clamping the boost voltage at around 14psi. Therefore, the OEM ECU never sees a signal above 14psi. I have read that because of this, the timing is no longer handled by the OEM ECU above this level. Is this true?
