Default SC 300 TT - A little more for less ?

Hey all,

Well I went up against two 180SX's and I can tell you, I was with them and then lost them. Those little things moved, mind you each change he made sounded like a missile being launched, one loud valve in that car, makes me wonder how people hold conversations with all that noise under there.

Anywayz... it has trigged some thought. I have had the car 2 weeks, it is dark blue and I aim to do a bit of body work too it. However, it is Twin Turbo and I was wondering is there a way to get a little extra performance out of it ?

Like what modifications / changes could I do for a reasonable amount of money that would increase the performance of the car ?

It's an Auto by the way....

which motor do you have?

either way a 1jz or 2jz both take about the same mods; you just can't boost as high with the 1jz's stock turbos

i'd get a good boost gauge and hook that up... i'd get a downpipe, testpipe, and catback... an intake, and a boost controller...if you've got a 2jz you can run the boost up to 17psi... if you've got a 1jz i think 13 or 14psi is the max...

check out supraforums, there's a lot of info there on the 2jz

the only reason you lost is because your car is heavy.
91+ 180sx came with sr20-det, and the car weights like 2500lb i think.
your car weights about 4200lb.
power to weight ratios man.
you can have a 1000hp car that weights 5 thousand pounds and and do 14sec
compair that to a 1000hp car that weights 2 thousand pounds can do 9secs

I realise this...

Thus want to increase the power at the rear wheels a little....

I was popped by about a car length whilst i was sitting on the other guys door...

Reality has it no matter what you do to your car, there is always going to be someone out there with something faster... so instead of aiming for the fastest car... i aim for the quickest soarer.

How much do you want to spend first exhaust, downpipe, turn up the boost with a good boost controller, greedy emange to controlfuel and timeing then cams singleturbo conversion the sky is the limit.
The most boost i would run with those turbos is 18psi you have a 2bar map from the factory good for
14.7 psi of boost,18psi is as far as i would go plus the wheels of your tubos are ceramicjust my thoughts.

4200lbs? not hardly... more like 3500lbs

anyway; there are TONS of australian forums out there dedicated to the soarer and other toyota vehicles... a few of their vet members post here occassionally...

you can beat that gay power/weight thing because you have a superior engine for big power...

do the boltons and you'll be dusting 180sx's (provided they have a stock turbo) with no problem

Default my weight?

the weight of my car was 3600 pounds and that was with a trunk full of stuff... It also has a full single sub stereo setup... So all stock I would say the thing is around 3500 pounds... So 4200 is kinda extreme... anyways the 180s really don't impress me much, that is to say the all stock ones..Do a little adjustments and do us all proud...
