Oil capacity

Hey guys,
I just did an oil change on my 98 sc300 and the book says it takes 5.5 with filter but took 6.5 qts. Has anyone run into this?

What do you mean by took 6.5 qts? The 300 doesn't take 6.5 qts.

I know the book says 5.5 and I put it in and it almost didn't read after I started the car and let it sit on the stick
