No It will Not work on a 92-94 sc300 5spd.
the shifter on the 92 is not like the shifter on the new manual cars. so only if you have a 95 will it work.
the shifter on the 92 uses a ball type joint that hooks into the tranny ...and also is angle up and back to where you normal have your hand on the shifter. if you use the trd shifter its just straight up and would be to far forward. .... not to mention it and the 95 use a bolt to connect to the shifter assembly.
it just won't work

Ive been doing some research on the TRD short shifter for the NA supra 5 speeds. I read on supraforums.com that after the install of the quickshift, the shifter actually sits higher than the stock shifter. Is this also true with the SC300's? I have a 95 and I was looking into this mod. Thanks guys. BTW sorry for bringing back an old thread.

The "short" doesn't refer to the shifter length, it refers to how far the "throw" is when you change gears. The TRD has a MUCH shorter "throw" than the stock shifter. And BTW, I don't think mine sits any higher than stock, but that might be because I'm using and aftermarket shift **** that I modified (you can do a search on "wood shift ****" for details. This is what it looks like in my '96:

Not sure I understand your question?
a) Yes, the TRD shift **** is taller than the stock ****,
b) I don't think the SHIFT LEVER is higher than stock (at least it doesn't seem so to me, but I may have forgotten how high/low the stock shifter was)
c) Yes, the shifter can be cut down to whatever size you want and rethreaded. You can have a machine shop do this, or if you're machanically inclined, you can do it yourself. The die you need is a 12x1.5mm. As another alternative, you can sometimes drill out the shift **** (depending on the ****) to get it to sit a bit lower. The tap needed for this is , you guessed it, 12x1.5mm

Yes, I still have mine. I was planning on keeping it in case I ever wanted to return the car to stock, but it sounds like you're doing an ambitious, worthwhile project! What year tranny do you have? My shifter is out of a '96, but should fit a '95 as well. The trannies before that had a different shifter mounting scheme. Let me know via email if I can help - wmulli@optonline.net
