Default Alternators interchangeable

I think I am having trouble with oil leaking into my alternator on my 94 SC300 and it is failing again! I am looking to buy an alternator off ebay and I see one that fits 93-00 GS300/95-96 SC300/and 93-98 NA Supra at a good price but was wondering if this same alternator will fit my 94 SC300 before I waste time and money buying the wrong thing potentially. Any one know if I can buy this alternator and it will work fine with my car? Thanks.

they will usually bolt on but some have different amp ratings and different connectors. make sure to get one with the same or more amp rating and you may need the connector, or not it could be the same especially on the supra I would imagine its the same but don't know 100%.

I just bought a 145 amp Denso alternator remanufactured for a 1992-1994 SC300 on ebay for $100 shipped. It said on ebay that it was compatible and so did the title and description. So we will see what happens when it gets here and I try to install it.

As long as the mounting tabs are situated the same, you should be OK. I bought a high amp alternator for my 1JZ. The guy said that the housing was from a GS300, and it should mount right up. When I got it, the top mounting tab was about 1/4" thicker than my 1JZ alt, so the pulley was out about 1/4" too far off center with the other pulleys. So, I just took my grinder to it and took off 1/4" and it's perfect. So, even if you end up having to do something like that, as long as you got a good deal on it, its good.

So, I installed the new alternator off ebay today in my 94 SC300 and it seems to be working okay other than the fact that the battery light stays on now when the car is running. I checked all the fuses and didn't see anything blown, the drive belt is tight, and the car runs fine and doesn't die or anything. I have already driven about 40+ miles with it like this and it runs as if the battery light isn't even on to begin with. I also used a multimeter to check the DC voltage at the battery when the car is running idle and it is at a solid 14.1-14.2v when the car is running at a stop. When the multimeter is used on the battery and the car is off, it is around the 12-13v range, once the car has stopped running for awhile. So the new alternator is definitely charging the battery, even under full load (MAX AC, stereo turned up, headlights on, etc.), just don't understand the battery light. Nothing seems visibly loose or dirty, any ideas? Would this have to do with the fact that the stock alternator is about 80-90 amps and this aftermarket one I installed is 145 amps?
