Need help with w58 shifter issue
If anyone is familiar with this issue please let me know I haven't been able to find any answer specific to our transmission.
Here is what I am experiencing. Clutch all the way in try to put the shifter into first and I hit a kind of invisible wall where it gets caught for about 1 second then eventually falls into place if you keep steady pressure on it. Same thing in second but not as bad. BUT here is where I noticed if I try this with second on flat ground the car will move slightly forward when I pas through this wall of sorts.
I have tried adjusting the clutch with no luck, the issue remained constant as if it is independent of it. Also I did try testing it by revving it up in first in neutral with no outcome. It is only when you get into the "gate" area where it grabs or something.
Anyone have this issue or a solution?

Just to report back if anyone has this issue with the tripod 95-97 style w58 shifter, I fixed the issue by adjusting the piece under the shifter that links the tarns to the shifter. It's 2 12mm bolts. I believe it was tightened before the trans was put back into the car and was just misaligned.
