Your ignition timing or CAM timing may be off. Pull the cam cover and see if the two cam pulleys dots line up with the marks on the metal cam cover, when the 1 cylinder is on TDC. If it passes that test. You may need a new ignition module or last to check is a failing ECU.

I did that and I made sure it was on tdc on the compression stoke and it still dose the same thing

If you removed the distributor recently, you probably put it back in wrong, at least thats what happens on v8's when you put them in wrong. double check it was done right.

mind telling us anything to help you other than that it starts and backfires.
did it just happen, did the car run before, does it run on hopes and dreams?
seriously any more info and we might be able to help alot better.
