Default Car died after 30 miles on a full tank

my old thread and what i replaced- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...8-gallons.html

so today i decided to put some miles on the car and take the car out to see if my issues were fixed.

i know for a fact that i have a full tank in there.

i managed to drive it 30 some miles before the car cut out on me. it would not start, but it would turn over and over again.

i put in 3 gallons of gas, and it fired up. i went to the gas station, and only managed to get in 30 cents worth, before it topped off.

does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? is it the fuel pump ECU? The next thing on my list is to bypass it and have constant power to the ECU, but at the same time, i only drove 30 some miles and was able to fill up 3 gallons worth of gas already...

i am completely lost as to what the issue could be. the engine runs great, but i just have this fuel issue to sort out. i've gotten stuck on the side of the road so many times now.

I'm so happy for AAA. it pays for itself.

EDIT: I also had an issue with the fuel gauge on the cluster. When i filled up around 10 some gallons, the fuel cluster went all the way down to E, before going back to F. Has this happened to anyone before?

I heard of a guy that had a similar prob like yours. Turned out there was something that was in his gas tank filler neck. Like a plastic bag or a rag.

sounds like vapor lock.. next time it happens try removing the gas cap, see if the car will start and run.

you are likely to get a CEL for the gas cap, but if the car starts and runs, then it is vapor lock, my guess would be that at some point someone topped off the tank too high and the charcoal canister got filled with raw fuel and will need to be replaced.

since that occurred there is no room for air in evap lines so the tank gets vapor locked. popping off the gas cap allows air flow.

think of it in terms of a gallon jug filled with water, when you go to pour it out it chugs, if you put a pin hole in the jug you allow air flow and the water will flow out in a stream.
