Default Headlight Cleaning and Defogging DIY

Okay so I couldnt find a consolidated post for cleaning and defogging so after looking around and tinkering here's what I've found is the best way to do this.

Tools:
10 mm socket with 6in extension and swivel & drive
Philips head screw driver
Needle Nose pliers
Shopvac or blower of some sort
Hair dryer (the more powerful the better)
Toothpaste
Rag

To remove the headlights, you will need to remove one 10mm nut on top, and 2 in behind the wheel well. The ones behind the wheel well require the removal of the plastic paneling which is secured by a few screws. If its never been removed it maybe be kind of jammed. I thought I was about to break it trying to separate the plastic from the front fender but it pops free. Remember, the wheels need to be turned all the way either to the right or left to give you the room you need to take out the screws to get behind the plastic.

Once you have the headlights out, use the shopvac and blow dryer in unison, heating the glass to evaporate the water and the shopvac to blow the moisture out.

After it's all dry, run a bead of silicon rubber around the seal and let it dry. For the final step, rub toothpaste on the lense while its dry and let it sit for about 30 seconds. Use a wet cloth to wipe it off. Repeat if it still looks a little hazy.

Now re install your headlights and they should be clear and water free! If you still are having a condensation problem try applying more silicon rubber, and as a last resort, pull the assembly apart and completely reseal it. If this is necesary, tell me and I'll make a DIY for that too. Good luck!
