Default ECU questions

Well, its that time of year where emissions needs to be tested on my 92 sc400,but wont pass due to CEL not working & dumping fuel. Been looking all over the forums & found that the ECU has to be the culprit to these faults as well as a few others. Would it be best to have the capacitors replaced or get a new ECU altogether if they still are made new? About how much would the cost be & is there anykind of advantages of doing one over the other?

Sewell has new ones listed for something like $1100 (back order), but I've seen other people say they cost either $1500 or $2500. Either way, not cheap.

Look into getting a rebuilt ECU; there are several sources out there. Or, get your unit properly rebuilt for under $200... Darryl Geller at http://www.lexuspartsplus.com/ has a good reputation.

This may not totally be the solution for passing a smog test but it is one piece of the puzzle....

Both Duck05 and I used Darryl to rebuild our ECU as well as many other CL users recently. He comes with a lifetime warranty so if it is done incorrectly, he will repair the ECU till it works.

I called the number on the above link for Darryl Gellar today, and spoke with him at length concerning my ECU issues. He was very helpful and said to send it right over via the above link. So its better to call than e-mail him.
