Fuel vapor canister replacement..need cheap substitute

I have fuel leaking out of canister overflow tube. Pulled the canister and it failed the test. Anyone know if I can substitute one from another car that will work?

I've seen guys swap an in-line fuel filter there to put a catch can in the place of the canister

Why put the filter? couldnt you just put a hose in a catch can?

You want a Duralast part no. VC120, available at AutoZone for $35.

It is the closest you'll find to the OEM size and layout for a fraction of the price. A little creativity will get it mounted in place.
